The assignment look into the needs assessment for possibility of establishing a reward system where mPSPs get paid for the services delivered. The outcomes highlights the asymmetric information within the ecosystem evident by limited access to information by farmers which hinders them from making informed decisions about when and where to sell their produce and the role of mPSPs to support them.
mPSPs reward system is highly recommended as it is well aligned to Government of Malawi’s National Agricultural Extension and Advisory Services Strategy (NAEASS, 2020) and Malawi’s National Agricultural Investment Plan (MNAIP 2017-2022) and country vision, MW2063 which promotes smallholder farmer commercialization.
Through the assignment, IBC facilitated reward system development as key driver for sustainability of farmers Market linkages, guiding stakeholders in the field, Farmers capacity building, and bulk input provision which as a way of boosting agricultural productivity.
